NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar was admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital on Wednesday, hours after being discharged earlier in the day, for further medical tests. His daughter and NCP (SP) MP Supriya Sule shared the update in a post on X (formerly Twitter), saying the veteran leader was being admitted for further evaluation.
“We are admitting Baba to Breach Candy Hospital for further tests. Thank you all for your concern and good wishes,” Supriya Sule wrote.
Dr Purvez K Grant, chief cardiologist, chairman and managing trustee of Ruby Hall Clinic, said Sharad Pawar had been admitted for a general check-up and medical observation after complaining of pleuritic pain. The condition refers to chest pain that typically worsens while breathing, coughing
or sneezing.
Earlier, Supriya Sule had said that Sharad Pawar was undergoing medical tests and that all his health parameters were stable.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to the veteran politician over the phone on Wednesday morning to enquire about his health. Sharad Pawar’s aide Vitthal Maniyar said that the Prime Minister advised him to take complete rest.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi called Pawar saheb this morning to enquire about his health. He spoke to him with great affection and respect and requested him to take complete rest. Modi told him that Supriya (Sule) was now ready and she and others would take care of the country, while Pawar saheb should rest,” Vitthal Maniyar said.
Vitthal Maniyar added that Sharad Pawar assured the Prime Minister that he was resting and had no concerns about the country, as others were there to take care of matters. He also thanked PM Modi for enquiring about his health.
