India’s Test captain Shubman Gill produced a super effort on the field on Sunday (October 12) to help Mohammed Siraj dismiss West Indies opener Tagenarine Chanderpaul in the second innings of the ongoing
second India-West Indies Test at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. The left-handed opening batter was on 10 runs from 29 balls when he tried to play a pull shot against Siraj but failed to connect with the ball properly, and Gill, who was fielding inside the 30-yard circle, completed a running catch.
The clip of Gill’s super fielding effort was shared by Star Sports on X, and it is now going viral on the internet.

West Indies team management and their fans had high hopes from Chanderpaul, who is the son of former West Indies batter and captain Shivnarine Chanderpaul, in the two-match series against India, but the 29-year-old could only manage to score a total of 52 runs in four innings.
He scored 0 and 8 runs in the series opener played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad last week. In the first innings of the ongoing Test in Delhi, he was sent back to the pavilion by Ravindra Jadeja after adding 34 runs to his team’s total, and in the second innings on Sunday afternoon, he made 10 runs from 30 balls.
Five-wicket haul for Kuldeep
Star spinner Kuldeep Yadav was on fire for Team India in the first innings of the Delhi Test. Kuldeep bowled 26.5 overs for the Shubman Gill-led side and picked up 5 wickets for 82 runs.
After opening his wicket account on Saturday afternoon, Kuldeep picked up three wickets in the morning session and dismissed one West Indies batter – Jayden Seales – in the post-lunch session.
The five-wicket haul by the cricketer from Kanpur helped him equal former England spinner Johnny Wardle’s record of most fifers in Tests by a left-arm wrist spinner.
During his nine-year-long international career, Wardle played 28 Tests and picked up five fifers, whereas Kuldeep has five fifers to his name in 15 Test matches. South Africa’s Paul Adams picked up four fifers in 45 Tests.
