Christmas Week Bank Holidays: Banks To Remain Closed For 5 Days Across Many States From Tomorrow

Bank Holiday In December 2025: Banks across India will observe several public and regional holidays this week of December under the RBI holiday calendar. These holidays are not uniform nationwide and vary from state to state. That means on some dates, banks in certain states will remain closed, while in others, they will function normally.

The major national wide holiday falling in December is Christmas on December 25. All banks across India will be closed on the day.

Along with that, several Northeastern states will observe the bank holidays for back-to-back days starting December 24.

During bank holidays, customers can continue to access services through net banking, mobile banking, UPI, and ATMs. However, cheque clearing and other over-the-counter

services under the Negotiable Instruments Act will not be available.

Banks will be closed national wide.

December 26: Christmas Celebration

Banks will be closed Aizawl, Kohima, and Shillong.

December 27: Christmas

Banks will be closed in Kohima only.

December 30: Death Anniversary of U Kiang Nangbah

Banks will be closed in Shillong only.

December 31: New Year’s Eve/Imoinu Iratpa

Banks will be closed in Aizawl and Imphal.
