Shreyas Iyer made his T20I captaincy debut for India in the two-match series against Ireland in June 2026 and is currently leading the Men in Blue in the ongoing five-match T20I series against England. During the fourth T20I at the County Ground in Bristol on Thursday (July 9), Iyer etched his name into the record books.
The 31-year-old right-handed middle-order batter from Mumbai, who replaced Suryakumar Yadav as India’s T20I skipper on June 6, 2026, is the first player in the world to win the toss in each of his first six T20I matches as captain.

Despite his remarkable streak at the toss, Iyer is still searching for his first victory as India’s T20I captain. In his first five matches in charge, India suffered four defeats, while the opening T20I against England at Chester-le-Street on July 1 ended in a no result after rain washed out the second innings.
Iyer also became only the third India captain after MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli to win six consecutive tosses in T20Is.
Dhoni won seven tosses in a row as India’s T20I captain between May 2010 and February 2012, while Kohli enjoyed a streak of six successive toss wins from August 2019 to December 2019.

Two changes for India
For the must-win fourth T20I against England in Bristol, India have made two forced changes to their playing XI. Fast bowler Harshit Rana and spinner Varun Chakaravarthy have been ruled out of the remainder of the series after suffering hamstring injuries during the third T20I at Trent Bridge.
In their absence, all-rounder Washington Sundar and fast bowler Prasidh Krishna have been included in India’s playing XI.
