Dharmendra No More: Legendary veteran actor, Dharmendra Deol, has passed away on Monday, November 10. The actor had been undergoing treatment at a Mumbai hospital and was eventually put on life support
before he breathed his last. Dharmendra was 89 years old at the time of his death and would have celebrated his 90th birthday on December 8. While fans mourn the loss of the Bollywood legend, he will make a posthumous appearance on screen soon with Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson, Agastya Nanda, in Ikkis.
What Do We Know About Ikkis?
Ikkis, the upcoming biographical war drama film featuring Agastya Nanda, Dharmendra and Jaideep Ahlawat, is generating significant anticipation. Helmed by Sriram Raghavan and backed by Maddock Films, the film is set to arrive on the big screens in December this year. The film’s trailer was released last month, and fans were excited to see Dharmendra share the screen with Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson, Agastya Nanda.
Based on the incredible true story of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, who was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra for his bravery in the 1971 Indo-Pak war, the film marks the big-screen debuts of Agastya Nanda and Simar Bhatia, niece of actor Akshay Kumar. While Agastya plays the role of Arun Khetarpal, Simar will be seen as his love interest in the film.
What Do We Know About Dharmendra’s Role In Ikkis?
Veteran actor Dharmendra plays Arun’s grandfather, who frequently tells stories of valour from his past to a young Arun, who listens in wonder. Jaideep Ahlawat plays a Pakistani army officer who informs Dharmendra that Arun Khetarpal’s courage is celebrated not only in India but also across the border. The film will reportedly be released around December 25, but an official date has yet to be announced.
Dharmendra’s son and actor Sunny Deol had previously shared the film’s trailer and expressed his excitement to see his father on screen. Sunny had written, “PAPA is going to ROCK again. Looking GOOD PAPA. LOVE YOU. Dear Agastya, all the very best, you will rock too! Woh Ikkis Ka Tha, Ikkis Ka Hi Rahega! Dinesh Vijan and Maddock Films present #Ikkis, an untold true story of India’s youngest Param Vir Chakra awardee – Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, directed by Sriram Raghavan. #IkkisTrailer Out Now. Dharmendra Was Also Working On Maine Pyaar Kiya Phir Se
Besides Ikkis, Dharmendra was also working on Maine Pyaar Kiya Phir Se with Arbaaz Khan. The two last appeared together in the 1998 hit, Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya, which also featured Salman Khan and Kajol. Their reunion after 27 years had fans waiting with excitement. The film’s shoot commenced earlier this year, but there have been no major updates since.
Touted to be a mix of family drama and thriller, the muhurat ceremony of Maine Pyaar Kiya Phir Se took place in June in Mumbai. It was attended by several Bollywood stars like Rajpal Yadav, Vidya Malavade, Ganesh Acharya, Kangana Sharma, Sudhakar Sharma, Vijay Madaye, Cheetah Yajnesh Shetty, Yogesh Lakhani of Bright Outdoor Media Ltd, and Sonu Baggad.
Dharmendra had praised the film and said, “Maine Pyaar Kiya Phir Se is like a ‘mix veg’—full of flavours and entertainment. My best wishes to Ronnie Rodrigues and his entire team. I had a great time working with Arbaaz Khan earlier in Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya, and I’m excited about this new journey together.”
Speaking about working with Dharmendra again, Arbaaz Khan had mentioned, “It’s an honour to be back on set with Dharamji. He is an institution in himself, and our journey now feels like it has come full circle. I wish Ronnie Rodrigues and the entire cast and crew all the very best. Ronnie’s sons are also part of the film, and I’m excited about the story, characters, and script.” While the film was supposed to be released in November 2025, there have been no major updates about the project.
