Punjab Kings captain continued their winning start to IPL 2026 with an impressive five-wicket win over Chennai Super Kings. They also continued their over-rate offence and hence have been slapped with heavy fines by the BCCI.
PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer will have to cough up Rs 24 lakh while the rest of the playing XI (including the Impact Player) will be fined either Rs 6 lakh or 25 per cent of their respective match fees, whichever is lesser.
During the match, for having been found behind the over rate, PBKS were also asked to bring in an extra fielder inside the 30 yards with two overs remaining. CSK posted a mammoth 209/5 in their 20 overs, but PBKS were up to the task chasing down the target with eight deliveries to spare.
