New Delhi, Aug 28 (PTI) Actor Priyanka Chopra’s mother Madhu Chopra spoke about the recent controversy surrounding Kriti Sanon’s attire in the GIVA advertisement and said there should be “boundaries and limitations”.
Sanon featured in the Raksha Bandhan advertisement by the jewellery brand where she was dressed in a bralette blouse with a draped skirt. It has received mixed responses from the users, with some criticising the actor for her attire.
Chopra attended the Women Building Cinema Together event in Mumbai on August 27, where she was asked about the ad row. She went on to explain even her children wear similar attires but also insisted it needs to “look good aesthetically as per the event, otherwise, it will draw criticism.
“My body, my choice
is right, but there should be some boundaries and limitations. There should be dignity, respecting people’s values. You can wear such things where they are normal, but in this case this is not normal. Sorry to say,” she told reporters.
“My kids also wear such clothes, for work and because they like wearing but I also feel, they need to look good aesthetically as per the occasion. If it’s not looking aesthetic, it will draw criticism,’ she added.
After the criticism, Giva took down the advertisement and issued an apology, claiming there were no intentions to hurt sentiments. “We have the highest regard and deep respect for Indian culture, traditions, and festivals,” it read.
