Shimla, Jun 14 (PTI) In an effort to promote eco-friendly tourism infrastructure and create new employment opportunities, the Himachal Pradesh government is set to establish an eco-adventure zipline in Naddi in Dharamshala, officials said on Sunday.
A government spokesperson said the state is scripting a new chapter in tourism-led development with a special focus on sustainable growth, innovation and community participation.
“Surrounded by the majestic Dhauladhar range, Naddi is already a popular destination known for its peaceful atmosphere and stunning Himalayan views. The new zipline will add an adventure element, making the area even more attractive to visitors,” the spokesperson said.
He said the project is being developed at a cost of Rs
7.41 crore under a public-private partnership model.
“The project is a major addition to the state’s tourism infrastructure. Stretching approximately 4.3 km, the zipline begins at the revered Gallu Devi temple and passes over some of the most scenic landscapes in Dharamshala region, including Bal Village, Naddi and Maggie Point Khud. Visitors will enjoy breathtaking views of forests, valleys and the Himalayas while experiencing a unique adventure,” the spokesperson said.
He further that the project is expected to boost local economy by increasing tourist footfall and creating opportunities for hotels, home-stays, transport operators, food businesses, guides and adventure tourism service providers. “It will also generate employment and skill-development opportunities for local youth.” Beyond adventure, the zipline will encourage visitors to explore the cultural and spiritual heritage of the area, offering a richer and more immersive travel experience, he added.
“For Dharamshala and the wider Kangra region, this project is another step towards strengthening its position as a leading tourism destination, and advancing the state government’s vision of developing Kangra as the state’s tourism capital,” the spokesperson said. PTI COR ARB ARB
