Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna-starrer Thamma is off to a strong start at the box office, earning an impressive Rs 42 crore in just two days across all languages. On its opening day (Tuesday), the film collected Rs 24 crore, with the Hindi version contributing Rs 23.75 crore and the Telugu version adding Rs 0.25 crore. On Day 2 (Wednesday), it is estimated to have made around Rs 18 crore, taking its India net total to Rs 42 crore. The film has emerged as the second-highest opener in Maddock’s horror-comedy universe, trailing only behind Stree 2. It also marked Ayushmann Khurrana’s biggest opening to date, surpassing the Rs 10.69 crore debut of Dream Girl 2.

News18 Showsha gave the film 3 stars. An excerpt from the review read, “Thamma was capable of so much more. This is the first time that a mainstream Hindi film is exploring the myths surrounding vampires. Yes, there’s masala, loads of it. But MHCU’s earlier films had raised our expectations so high that by the end of Thamma, you’ll be left feeling high and dry. There was ample room for experimentation and there was so much potential to push boundaries and dare more. But ultimately, the storytelling remains curiously restrained and gets reduced to just another horror-comedy with tropes that arrive on cue.”

The makers took to their Instagram handle and shared a new poster along with the announcement. “Get ready to experience something real and intense with the #TheGirlFriendTrailer. Dropping to hit your hearts on 25th October. #TheGirlfriend in cinemas on November 7^th,” read the caption. Fans too reacted. Many wrote, ‘Waiting’.  The film will hit theatres on November 7, 2025. The announcement comes a day after news of Rashmika’s engagement with Vijay Deverakonda went viral. Production house Geetha Arts confirmed the release across multiple languages, including Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam. In a social media post, they wrote, “WHO IS YOUR TYPE? Let’s have this conversation with #TheGirlfriend in theaters from NOVEMBER 7th, 2025. In Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam #TheGirlfriendOnNov7th. #WhoIsYourType” The post was accompanied by the film’s teaser, which runs for one minute and 49 seconds, giving audiences a glimpse of the romantic narrative.
