The Indian men’s cricket team will face the West Indies in a five-match T20I series next month (October 2026), and for the home series against the Men in Maroon, the BCCI announced India’s 15-member squad on Wednesday (September 16).
The BCCI’s senior men’s selection committee has retained as many as 12 players from the team currently taking on Afghanistan in a three-match T20I series. But there are changes as well.
Shreyas Iyer will lead India in the home series against the West Indies after captaining the side in the Asian Games 2026, while Tilak Varma has been named as his deputy.
Here’s a look at the full list of changes in Team India for the T20I series against the West Indies
IN: Kuldeep Yadav, Mayank Yadav and Prince Yadav are back in India’s
T20I squad for the West Indies series. Kuldeep, who has 95 wickets to his name in 54 T20Is, last played a 20-over match for the Men in Blue on February 15, 2026, against Pakistan in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. He was dropped for the England series and was not considered for the Asian Games either.
Meanwhile, Mayank and Prince last played T20Is for India in July 2026 against Zimbabwe but were dropped for the ongoing series against Afghanistan.
OUT: Jasprit Bumrah, Yash Thakur, Varun Chakaravarthy and Vipraj Nigam are not part of India’s T20I squad for the West Indies series.
Bumrah is playing for India in the ongoing series against Afghanistan and will represent the Men in Blue in the Asian Games as well, but he has been rested for the West Indies series.
Yash Thakur, meanwhile, has not been considered for the West Indies series. Thakur, who made his T20I debut in July 2026 against Zimbabwe, wasn’t initially picked for the Afghanistan series and the Asian Games but was later added as Harshit Rana’s replacement.
Varun is currently out of action due to injury, which is why he has not been included, while Vipraj, who is his replacement for the Asian Games, has also been left out.
