Travis Head played nine out of 10 innings in the 2025-26 Ashes series against England as an opener and, with the help of three centuries, amassed a total of 608 runs. But despite that, the 32-year-old
left-handed batter from Adelaide was ignored for the Player Of The Series award. Instead, the best player of the series was awarded to left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc.
Like Head, Starc also played a big role in Australia’s 4-1 Ashes win. He featured in all five matches and picked up a total of 31 wickets. In addition to his 31 wickets, Starc also scored 156 runs with the bat in seven innings and slammed two half-centuries.
The 35-year-old fast bowler from Sydney picked up 7 wickets for 58 runs in the first innings of the first Test played at Optus Stadium in Perth on November 21 and 22, 2025, and in the next nine innings registered figures of 3/55, 6/75, 2/64, 1/61, 3/62, 2/23, 2/55, 2/93 and 3/72.
