Just one week into Bigg Boss 20, singer Qazi Touqeer is already emerging as one of the most entertaining contestants inside the house. From his singing and acting to his lively personality, Qazi has managed to catch the audience’s attention in a rather short span of time. Qazi has seen a lot of ups and downs in his journey- right from winning Fame Gurukul in 2005 to now being a part of Bigg Boss 20. During the Weekend Ka Vaar episode, Salman Khan praised Qazi’s journey and acknowledged the struggles he has faced over the years. The host praised him for staying mentally strong through it all, drawing comparisons with the journeys of Bobby Deol and John Travolta.
Salman Khan Praises Qazi Touqeer
In the latest episode of Bigg Boss 20, Salman Khan lauded Qazi’s journey, and his
never-give-up attitude. He recalled how Qazi won Fame Gurukul in 2005 and, despite not finding the same level of popularity afterwards, never gave up. Instead, he continued working and performing at live shows, staying committed to his craft through the years.
Salman said that while some people also criticised Qazi’s singing in the past, his skills are now being praised by one and all. “And when you came onto the stage, people were saying, ‘Look at how well he is singing.’ Now your singing is being praised as well. Your sense of humour and your performances are also being appreciated by everyone,” said the host.
Salman Khan Gives Bobby Deol, John Travolta’s Examples
Salman further gave Bobby Deol and John Travolta’s examples, stating how they didn’t have work at one point. “Sometimes in life, you get certain things very quickly, and they disappear just as quickly. Take John Travolta, for example. There was a period when he had no work in Hollywood for almost 20 years. But he never stopped working on himself. Then there is Bobby Deol. He was one of the biggest stars, and yet he went through a difficult phase. But he never gave up,” said Salman.
Qazi Touqeer Gets Emotional
Qazi turned emotional, and struggled to hold back his tears as Salman praised him for the fact that he never stopped working. “Everyone goes through good and bad times. During the bad times, you have to work ten times harder. And there is one very good thing about a bad phase — it eventually comes to an end. At the same time, when you start taking the good times for granted, as I sometimes do, they too eventually come to an end,” he said.
“But I also know that when difficult times come, you have to keep working hard and stay determined. And that is what you are seeing with Touqeer. Things came and things went, but Qazi never stopped working. You have gone through your own struggles, but perhaps the biggest effort you have made is to remain mentally strong. That is something most people are unable to do. So, well done. This is one lesson everyone must learn from Qazi,” said Salman.
About Qazi Touqeer’s Journey
Qazi became a household name in 2005 when he participated in Sony Entertainment Television’s singing reality show Fame Gurukul.
Winning Fame Gurukul gave Qazi a huge burst of popularity, but his career after the show did not follow the conventional Bollywood success story.
He also had ambitions of becoming an actor. He was later cast in Take Off, which was meant to mark his acting debut, but the film never saw a release.
Qazi made another appearance in the Bollywood music space years later when he featured in the video for the song ‘Afghan Jalebi’ featuring Katrina Kaif from the 2015 film Phantom.
Now, over two decades after his Fame Gurukul win, Qazi is winning hearts with his Bigg Boss 20 stint.
