Sometimes, a film arrives with a quirky idea, a popular star, and a lot of buzz… but the box office tells a slightly different story. That seems to be the case with Love Insurance Kompany, which is still finding its footing after hitting theatres.
The science fiction romantic comedy, headlined by Pradeep Ranganathan and directed by Vignesh Shivan, released recently but has not shown significant growth in collections over its first two days. Despite a decent opening, the film’s numbers have remained largely steady.
According to trade tracking platform Sacnilk, the film earned ₹7.05 crore on its opening day. On day two, which was also its first Saturday, it collected ₹7.70 crore. This brings its total domestic collection to ₹14.75 crore net so far.
While Love Insurance Kompany has managed to outperform Adivi Sesh’s Dacoit, which released on the same day, it has not matched the expected upward trend typically seen over a weekend. The film is, however, performing better than Pradeep’s earlier release Love Today, which earned just over ₹7 crore in its first two days. At the same time, it falls short when compared to his other projects such as Dude (₹20 crore) and Dragon (₹17 crore), both of which saw a noticeable jump in collections on their first Saturday.
Set in the year 2040, the film explores a futuristic concept where couples insure their relationships through a dating application called LIK. The narrative follows a man who believes in traditional, organic love but finds himself drawn to a woman who embraces a tech-driven approach to relationships, leading to a clash of ideologies.
The film also features Krithi Shetty, Yogi Babu, Seeman, Gouri G Kishan, Shah Ra, Malavika, and Sunil Reddy in supporting roles. It is produced by Rowdy Pictures and Seven Screen Studio.
The journey to release was marked by multiple delays. Initially scheduled for September 18, 2025, the film was later moved to October 17 for the Diwali window. It was subsequently postponed again to avoid a clash with Pradeep’s other project Dude. Further shifts pushed the release to December 18, 2025, and later to February, with speculation around a Valentine’s Day release that did not materialise.
Amid the film’s box office run, Vignesh Shivan addressed audiences on Instagram, urging them to experience the film in theatres. He wrote, “Thanks for so many good hearts for flocking the theatres with soooo much love, it’s a movie made for the theatre experience, enjoy your summer and kids along! ❤ take your families. Pls ignore all the negativity and orchestrated negative reviews! And purely enjoy the movie in theatres near you! We have sincerely worked hard to give you all a good experience, see it to believe it.”
