Former New Zealand fast bowler Trent Boult, who represents Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL), MI Cape Town in SA20 and MI New York in Major League Cricket (MLC), has included two Indian cricketers
in his dream six team. But to fans’ surprise, the two Indians are not Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah. Virat is arguably the greatest batter of all time, whereas Bumrah is the only bowler to reach the No. 1 position in the ICC rankings in all three formats.
Boult has shared a dressing room in the IPL with Bumrah for three seasons (2020, 2021 and 2025) and has played many matches in the IPL as well as international cricket against Kohli.
In his list of dream six, Boult included Rohit Sharma and Mohammed Shami from India and also picked one cricketer each from Australia, Pakistan, New Zealand and the West Indies.
According to Boult, Rohit is one of his favourite batsmen ever.
“Rohit Sharma. He is one of my favourite batsmen ever. Partnered with Chris Gayle. Destructive. Trent Boult would be the third batter. Shane Warne. Mohammed Shami, beautiful seam presentation. Shaheen Shah Afridi,” Boult said in a video shared by MI Cape Town on Instagram.

Like Bumrah, Rohit has also played in the IPL for three seasons now with Boult for Mumbai Indians. Under Rohit’s leadership, Boult played a big role in MI’s IPL title win in 2020.
Rohit’s record in IPL
Rohit has played a total of 272 matches in the IPL for two teams – Deccan Chargers and Mumbai Indians – since making his debut in 2008. With the help of two centuries and 47 fifties, he has amassed a total of 7046 runs. He is only the second batter in the world after Virat to score more than 7000 runs in the IPL.
Apart from his batting, Rohit has made a big name for himself as captain in the world’s richest franchise cricket league. Under his leadership, Mumbai Indians won five IPL titles in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020. He is the joint-most successful player in IPL history with six titles.
