At least 15 people are feared trapped after a stone mine collapsed in Sonbhadra district on Saturday, triggering a massive rescue operation, officials said. Two bodies have been recovered so far as teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) continue search efforts at the site.
Heavy machinery and specialised personnel have been deployed to clear debris and widen access to the collapsed section of the mine. Rescue teams are working through the rubble in an attempt to reach those still believed to be trapped. Officials said the priority is to remove the heavy stone slabs and create safe entry points for responders.
Authorities remain on-site, monitoring the operation and coordinating efforts
to locate survivors.
Further details on the incident are awaited.
