Nawazuddin Siddiqui is one of the most celebrated and talented actors in Indian cinema, and he is currently awaiting the release of his upcoming film Main Actor Nahin Hoon (I Am Not an Actor). Ahead of the movie’s release, an update suggests that the film is going to get about 100 cinemas in key metropolitan cities.
“Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s Main Actor Nahin Hoon stands out as one of his most ambitious small-budget films, mounted at just ₹1.5 crore yet releasing across 100 theatres in four major cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Pune. The film reflects a unique blend of scale and simplicity, proving that compelling storytelling can transcend budget limitations,” reveals a source.
Despite being mounted on a controlled budget, the film
is gearing up for a wide theatrical release across 100 cinemas in key metropolitan cities. Featuring several fresh faces alongside Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Main Actor Nahin Hoon is slated to release in theatres on May 8. Directed by Aditya Kriplani, the film is produced by Faizuddin Siddiqui under the banner of Side Hero Entertainment, marking his debut as a producer. The film has been shot extensively in Frankfurt, Germany, with a minimal crew, along with portions filmed in Mumbai, giving the project an international backdrop while maintaining its intimate storytelling style.
More about Main Actor Nahin Hoon
Main Actor Nahin Hoon tells the story of a retired banker (portrayed by Nawazuddin Siddiqui) who aspires to become an actor and connects virtually with a professional actor for acting lessons. The film also features Chitrangada Satarupa, Naveen Kasturia, Ayushi Gupta, Yasir Iftikhar Khan, Meenakshi Arundhati, and Vibhawari Deshpande. It will be screened exclusively for current students and alumni of the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute on June 24.
Following the screening, there will be an intimate conversation with Siddiqui and writer-director Aditya Kriplani. “We are so excited about this. It is a film about acting, so for it to go to a prestigious establishment like this is a huge honour,” said Kriplani. Siddiqui, trained in method acting, will also conduct a special masterclass on his process and various interpretations of the craft. “As artistes, we feel bankers have it easy… I want to debunk these labels,” added Kriplani, challenging narrow perceptions of professions and identity.
