Bigg Boss has always had one simple rule: stay long enough, survive the nominations and hope the audience keeps you in the game. But this season, even getting eliminated may not mean the end. In Bigg Boss 20, every contestant might get two lives instead of one!
The new season premiered on September 6, 2026, with Salman Khan back as host. The grand premiere streamed first on JioHotstar at 9 PM, followed by its telecast on Colors TV at 10:30 PM. The season has 16 contestants.
What Is Bigg Boss 20’s ‘Second Chance’ Or ‘Extra Jeevan Daan’?
Normally, what happens is that a contestant gets nominated, faces the audience vote and either stays or packs their bags. This time, each housemate has two lives, or lifelines. Bigg Boss announced during the premiere
that contestants will have two chances to save themselves, and a contestant will leave the show only after both lives are lost.
Salman Khan introduced the twist during the premiere by saying, “Bigg Boss mein milega, meri jaan… extra jeevan daan” or an extra lease on life.
How Does The Two-Life System Work?
The basic rule revealed so far is that every contestant gets two lives. Losing one does not immediately end their journey. They still have another one left. However, Bigg Boss has also hinted that the housemates can play a role in taking away one contestant’s lifeline through nominations, while they will also get special powers.
In other words, your enemies in the house could potentially become just as important as the audience outside it.
Can The Twist Change Nominations?
Usually, contestants are obsessed with protecting themselves during nominations. They try to keep their alliances strong, avoid becoming easy targets and figure out who is likely to be nominated. With two lives in play, the calculations become different.
A contestant who still has both lives may feel relatively secure, while someone who has already lost one suddenly becomes much more vulnerable. That could lead to new groups forming inside the house, with contestants keeping a close eye on who still has a lifeline left.
Who Are The 16 Contestants In Bigg Boss 20?
The 16 contestants who have entered Bigg Boss 20 are Kanika Mann, Aasif Khan, Qazi Touqeer, Isha Rikhi, Amrapali Dubey, Rohed Khan, Love Gill, MC Mary Kom, Yung DSA, Tanmay Singh aka ScoutOP, Arishfa Khan, Kushal Tanwar aka Gullu, Aman Gandhi, Uditi Singh, Rhiti Tiwari and Mahhi Vij.
