Kajol has opened up about a candid exchange with Aamir Khan and Salman Khan on the debut episode of her new chat show, Two Much, which she co-hosts with Twinkle Khanna. The actor revealed that both stars
avoided giving a direct answer when asked why it is considered “cinematic magic” when older men romance younger women on screen, but “bold” when the roles are reversed.
Kajol Recalls Aamir And Salman’s Diplomatic Response
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Kajol said the two Khans “went around the topic quite nicely.” She added with a laugh, “They kind of beat around the bush a little bit and didn’t actually answer. So when Salman comes and sits in front of you again — please ask him that question.”
‘Feminism Starts With Yourself’
Using the conversation as a springboard, Kajol shared her views on feminism, saying it begins with one’s own sense of worth. “You can’t get mad about these things. It’s out of your control,” she said. “Feminism doesn’t start with anybody else — it starts with yourself. If I believe I’m worth it, nobody else can tell me I’m not.”
Kajol added that the term “feminism” is often misunderstood and overused, emphasising that real empowerment lies in women supporting and employing each other “like how we see the guys doing all the time.”
Kajol On Age, Marriage And Confidence
The Lust Stories 2 actress also dismissed the notion that age or marriage should limit a woman’s choices in cinema. “I didn’t believe marriage would stop me, and it didn’t. I didn’t believe turning 45 or 50 would stop me — and it hasn’t,” she said.
Kajol concluded by stressing that longevity in the industry depends on confidence and mindset. “It’s all in your mind,” she said. “If you see yourself as worthy and confident, everyone else will too.”
