In a new development in the ongoing legal fight between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, the ‘FI: The Movie’ star has filed a lawsuit against Jolie over their shared Chateau Miravel winery. According to People, Pitt’s lawyers have submitted new court documents, including communications with Jolie’s team about her 2021 sale of her share in the winery, which they co-owned. The documents include an email from November 2023, where Jolie’s lawyers responded to Pitt’s lawsuit, which reportedly involves millions in damages.
They wrote, “The burdensome nature of any production is a matter of Mr Pitt’s own creation—he is suing Ms Jolie for $35 million in damages. As a result, he has to pay for producing the documents that will show (or not show) those damages.”
Jolie’s team also said Pitt was seeking ‘ongoing damages for alleged harm to Miraval’s ongoing operations.’ They mentioned Pitt’s continued refusal to provide documents explaining why he needed a four-year NDA covering his personal misconduct.
Pitt first sued in 2022, claiming Jolie sold her share of the winery despite an agreement that neither would do so without the other’s approval. After Jolie recently claimed attorney-client privilege to refuse giving the contested documents, which Pitt says is improper, the ‘Once Upon A Time In Hollywood’ star insisted on getting 22 of the documents.
The next hearing is set for December 17. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, who have six children—Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Vivienne, and Knox—split in 2016 after 12 years together and two years of marriage. The Oscar-winning actors finalised their divorce in December 2024.
