Nathan Lyon Surpasses McGrath
Earlier, Nathan Lyon, who was benched for the previous game, made an immediate impact on day two of the Adelaide Test. He struck twice in his first
over to leave England wobbling on the second day of the Adelaide Test on Thursday. With those twin blows, Lyon surpassed the legendary Glenn McGrath in the list of highest wicket-takers in Test cricket, taking his own tally to 564 scalps.
The 38-year-old first drew level with the iconic fast bowler when he had Ollie Pope flick one to mid-wicket, where Josh Inglis took a good catch to send the England batter back to the dressing room on just 3.
England On Backfoot
The second day of the Test match saw a pumped-up Australia rip through England’s fragile batting on Thursday to leave the tourists staring down the barrel of a third Test defeat with their Ashes campaign on the brink, barring a miracle.
At stumps on a sweltering day two, the visitors had ground to 213-8, trailing by 158 after Australia added 45 to their overnight 326-8 as temperatures soared to 40 Celsius.
