Acknowledging that pursuing coaching is a burden on the poor and middle class, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Saturday that free online classes will be provided to students preparing for competitive exams.
In his outreach to Gen Z in the backdrop of a massive student-led protest in Delhi over the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak controversy, PM Modi asserted that his government wanted to assist the poor and middle class in saving thousands of crores of rupees spent on expensive coaching classes.
“The competition surrounding coaching classes has become a huge burden for middle-class families. Every parent feels that if they do not send their child to a coaching centre, they are somehow falling behind or do not belong to a respectable family,”
PM Modi said.
The Prime Minister noted that youth should be able to stay closer to their families. “Therefore, we have decided to provide free online coaching for various competitive examinations for our youth,” he said. “We have digital public infrastructure, and we have highly talented teachers and educators.”

PM Modi’s Message To Start-ups
In line with the government’s resolve for ‘Viksit Bharat’, PM Modi invited start-ups to bring their innovative ideas, while announcing that Rs 1 crore has been allotted to assist them in research and development.
“I want to tell the youth of the country: bring your dreams, and we will not let there be any shortage of resources. We have created a system with Rs 1 lakh crore to provide strength to your ideas and capabilities”, he said.
PM Modi reiterated that plenty of resources are available in the country, pushing for the government’s “Make in India” approach. “New opportunities for research have been created. Digital India and affordable data have empowered the youth. If there is affordable data anywhere in the world, it is here on the soil of India. And this has given the youth of the country new strength”, he said.
