BRICS Summit 2026: India is hosting the high-profile 18th BRICS Summit at Bharat Mandapam on Saturday (September 12), prompting the Delhi Police to implement traffic restrictions, diversions and regulated movement across the national capital.
As several foreign dignitaries and world leaders will be visiting Bharat Mandapam, the Delhi Traffic Police has issued an urgent advisory, saying that traffic diversions and regulated movement will be implemented on key routes across Delhi from 9:30 am to 9:00 pm.
Police have advised commuters to plan their journeys in advance and allow extra travel time, while urging for public transport, particularly the Delhi Metro. Emergency and essential-service vehicles will be given priority for Saturday.
The capital
has been put on high alert ahead of the two-day summit. Approximately 15,000 Delhi Police personnel and 200 companies of paramilitary forces have been deployed. More than 500 CCTV cameras are being used in Delhi, including high-resolution surveillance systems, facial-recognition technology and automatic number plate-reading equipment.
Affected Roads In Delhi
Notably, traffic in Delhi will not be completely stopped, but traffic movement will be redirected temporarily whenever security convoys pass through sensitive corridors.
More than 35 routes will be affected by the BRICS Summit arrangements. These include:

Diversion Points
The Delhi Police have identified 22 diversion points for easing traffic throughout the national capital during the summit.
- Dr Dinesh Nandini Dalmia Chowk: Mathura Road and Tilak Marg will be restricted. Vehicles from East and South Delhi will be diverted via BSZ Marg towards IP Marg, while traffic from Central, North and West Delhi will be routed through BSZ Marg towards Delhi Gate. Vehicles from New Delhi and Connaught Place will be diverted via Sikandra Road.
- Ram Charan Aggarwal Chowk: Commercial vehicles beyond the chowk towards W-Point will be restricted. Vehicles from East and South Delhi will be routed through IP Marg, while those from New Delhi and Connaught Place will be diverted via DDU Marg. Traffic from Central, North and West Delhi will be directed through BSZ Marg towards Delhi Gate.
- Mir Dard Chowk: Maharaja Ranjit Singh Marg will be restricted. Vehicles from New Delhi, Central, North and West Delhi will be diverted via Mir Dard Marg, Abdul Gaffar Marg and DDU Marg. Traffic from North, Central, East, West and South Delhi will be routed through Mir Dard Marg, Kotla Marg and BSZ Marg/DDU Marg.
- Kasturba Gandhi Marg/Outer Circle, Connaught Place: Traffic towards C-Hexagon on the Outer Circle will be restricted. Vehicles from New Delhi and South Delhi will be diverted via the Outer Circle towards other arterial roads, except Janpath.
- Janpath/Connaught Place: Traffic towards C-Hexagon from the Outer Circle will be restricted. Vehicles from New Delhi and South Delhi will be diverted via the Outer Circle towards other arterial roads, except Kasturba Gandhi Marg. Traffic from Central, North, West and East Delhi will be routed through Kali Bari, Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Panchkuian, Minto and Barakhamba roads.
- Patel Chowk: Traffic towards Windsor Place and RBI on Sansad Marg will be restricted. Vehicles from New Delhi, South, West and Central Delhi will be diverted via Ashoka Road towards GPO, while traffic from Central, North, West and East Delhi will be routed through Sansad Marg towards Connaught Place.
- Roundabout, RML Hospital: Traffic towards Mother Teresa Crescent and Talkatora Road will be restricted. Vehicles from Central, South, West and North Delhi will be diverted via Sheikh Mujibur Rehman Marg, while traffic from Connaught Place, West, North, Central and East Delhi will be routed through Baba Kharak Singh Marg.
- Vande Matram Marg/Simon Bolivar Marg: Simon Bolivar Marg will be restricted. Vehicles from South Delhi will be diverted via Vande Matram Marg towards Dhaula Kuan, while traffic from New Delhi, East, North, West and Central Delhi will be routed through Vande Matram Marg towards Karol Bagh.
- Dhaula Kuan Flyover: Sardar Patel Marg will be restricted. Traffic from South, New Delhi, East, Central and West Delhi will be diverted via both sides of Ring Road, while vehicles from New Delhi, North, Central and East Delhi will be routed through Vande Matram Marg. Traffic bound for IGI Airport and Gurgaon will be diverted via NH-48/Gurgaon Road.
- Moti Bagh Flyover: Shanti Path will be restricted. Vehicles from South, New Delhi, East, Central and West Delhi will be diverted via both sides of Ring Road, while traffic from South West Delhi, IGI Airport and Gurgaon will be routed through Rao Tula Ram Marg.
- Roundabout, Brig. Hoshiar Singh Marg: Africa Avenue towards Yashwant Place will be restricted. Vehicles from New Delhi and the South and East districts will be diverted via Brig. Hoshiar Singh Marg, while traffic from South, East, Central, North and West Delhi will be routed through Africa Avenue towards Bhikaji Cama Flyover.
- Madarsa T-Point: Traffic towards Aurobindo Marg will be restricted. Vehicles from South and East Delhi will be diverted via Lodhi Road, while traffic from South, East, West, Central and North Delhi will be routed through Aurobindo Marg towards Safdarjung Flyover.
- Lodhi Road/Amrita Shergil Marg: Amrita Shergil Marg will be restricted. Vehicles from South, East, West, Central, North and New Delhi will be diverted via Lodhi Road.
- Lodhi Road/Max Mueller Marg: Max Mueller Marg will be restricted. Vehicles from South, East, West, Central, North and New Delhi will be diverted via Lodhi Road.
- Lodhi Road/Maharishi Raman Marg: Maharishi Raman Marg will be restricted. Vehicles from South, East, West, Central, North and New Delhi will be diverted via Lodhi Road, while traffic from South Delhi will be routed through Bhishm Pitamah Marg.
- Lodhi Road/Arch Bishop Macarius Marg: Arch Bishop Macarius Marg will be restricted. Vehicles from South, East, West, Central, North and New Delhi will be diverted via Lodhi Road.
- Under Lodhi Flyover: Mathura Road towards Bharat Mandapam will be restricted. Vehicles from South and East Delhi will be diverted via Lodhi Road towards Neela Gumbad, while traffic from East Delhi will be routed through Barapullah Flyover. Vehicles from South, West, Central, North and New Delhi will be diverted via Lodhi Road towards Madarsa and Lala Lajpat Rai Marg.
- Neela Gumbad: Traffic towards Oberoi Flyover and Dr Zakir Hussain Marg will be restricted. Vehicles from South, East, Central and North Delhi will be diverted via Mathura Road towards Ashram Chowk, while traffic from South, West, Central, North and New Delhi will be routed through Lodhi Road.
- Under Oberoi Flyover: Mathura Road will be restricted. Vehicles from South, East, West, Central, North and New Delhi will be diverted via Lodhi Flyover through the U-turn underpass opposite DPS Mathura Road. Vehicles bound for Oberoi Hotel and Golf Link will be permitted.
- U-Turn opposite DPS, Mathura Road: Traffic towards Bharat Mandapam will be restricted. Vehicles from South, East, West, Central, North and New Delhi will be diverted via Lodhi Flyover through the U-turn underpass opposite DPS Mathura Road.
- Ring Road/Bhairon Road: Traffic towards Bhairon Marg will be restricted. Vehicles from South, East and New Delhi will be diverted via Ring Road through Sarai Kale Khan, while traffic from Central, North, East and West Delhi will be routed through Ring Road via Rajghat.
- Mandi House: Feroz Shah Road, Bhagwan Das Road and Copernicus Marg will be restricted. Vehicles from New Delhi, Central, North, West and South Delhi will be diverted via Barakhamba Road, while traffic from East, North, West, South and Central Delhi will be routed through Sikandra Marg.
