US, Egypt, Qatar & Turkey Sign Gaza Deal To End Two-Year War, Trump Says 'It'll Hold Up'

The United States, Egypt, Qatar and Turkey on Monday signed a landmark declaration to guarantee a Gaza ceasefire deal aimed at ending two years of war, with US President Donald Trump declaring, “It’ll

hold up.”

Speaking at an international summit in Egypt’s Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, Trump hailed the moment as a breakthrough for the region, calling it “a tremendous day for the Middle East” as hostilities between Israel and Hamas come to a halt.

The signing came just hours after a major exchange of hostages and prisoners, with Hamas releasing the last 20 surviving Israeli hostages it had held in Gaza, and Israel freeing nearly 2,000 mostly Palestinian prisoners from its jails.

Trump made a surprise visit to Israel earlier in the day, where he addressed the Knesset and praised Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, before flying to Egypt for the summit.

Alongside the leaders of Egypt, Qatar and Turkey, Trump signed the declaration as a guarantor of the ceasefire agreement.

“The document is going to spell out rules and regulations and lots of other things,” Trump said before putting his signature on the declaration. “It’s going to hold up,” he added, repeating the phrase for emphasis.

At a media briefing following the signing, Trump spoke of broader hopes for the region beyond the end of the conflict.

“The momentous breakthrough that we’re here to celebrate tonight is more than the end of the war in Gaza—with God’s help, it will be a new beginning for an entire, beautiful, Middle East,” he said. “We can build a region that’s strong, and stable, and prosperous, and united in rejecting the path of terror once and for all.”

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi also welcomed the deal, saying it “closes a painful chapter in human history and opens a new era of peace and stability” in the Middle East. He called it a “historic day” and said it lays the groundwork for a long-term political solution, including a two-state framework.

The ceasefire agreement is part of Trump’s wider 20-point plan for Gaza, first announced in late September, which helped pave the way for Monday’s deal.

As part of the agreement, Hamas is also expected to return the bodies of 27 hostages who died in captivity, as well as the remains of an Israeli soldier killed during the 2014 Gaza conflict.
