Panic gripped the residents of Banjari village in Kota’s Itawa area when an 8-foot-long crocodile, weighing around 80 kilograms, suddenly entered a villager’s home. The terrified family screamed for help, drawing neighbours who were equally shocked to see the massive reptile resting inside.
The villagers immediately alerted the forest department, but when no officials arrived in time, they turned to local wildlife expert Hayat Khan, popularly known as “Tiger” among the locals, for help. Hayat and his team promptly reached the spot and began the challenging rescue operation in the dark.
A video of the shocking incident is going viral on social media, showing Hayat walking confidently, almost like a movie hero, with the giant crocodile resting on his
shoulder. For safety, the reptile’s mouth and legs were taped. What drew the most attention was Hayat’s calm smile as he posed for the cameras, effortlessly holding the massive and dangerous creature.
Daring Man Carries Giant Crocodile On His Shoulder
According to India Today, Hayat Khan and his team reached the scene quickly, prompting locals to liken the daring rescue to a “film-like” mission. They first secured the crocodile’s mouth with tape to prevent any attacks, then tied its front and back legs with ropes before carefully removing it from the house. The rescue operation lasted nearly an hour and concluded around 11 p.m. The following morning, the team safely released the crocodile into the Chambal River near the Geta area.

Locals Say Pond Near Village Has Become A Crocodile Hotspot
Speaking with the portal, a villager named Laturlal recalled the moment. “We were sitting in the house around 10 pm when suddenly, the crocodile entered through the door. Before we could understand anything, it went into the back room. The entire family ran out in fear.”
Hayat Khan added, “This crocodile was around eight feet long and weighed about 80 kilograms. This is the third such rescue from Banjari village in the past year.”
Villagers say a nearby pond has become home to numerous crocodiles, making it unsafe to use for almost a year. Fearing attacks, they have avoided the water entirely, and the growing number of reptiles has left them increasingly worried for their safety. Many residents say they can’t even approach the pond. They are urging local authorities to take strong measures, such as installing a fence or relocating the crocodiles, so they can live in peace again.
