Uttarkashi/Pithoragarh, May 30 (PTI) Two pilgrims from Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat died due to health complications in Uttarakhand, officials said on Saturday.
According to officials, the health of 61-year-old Harimohan from Madhya Pradesh’s Sheopur, who had come to visit Yamunotri Dham, suddenly deteriorated on Saturday morning at Jankichatti.
The pilgrim’s family members took him to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Jankichatti, where doctors declared him dead.
In Pithoragarh district, 76-year-old Mansukh Giri died of a heart attack in Dharchula while returning from the Adi Kailash pilgrimage.
Dr. Rajesh Singh Guniyal, the Medical Officer at the Dharchula hospital, saod that Giri was brought to the hospital on Friday evening in an unconscious
state and was found dead upon examination.
Giri, a resident of Gujarat’s Rajkot, was part of a group of pilgrims returning from the Adi Kailash pilgrimage and had suddenly collapsed at the Nabi camp.
This was the third incident of a pilgrim dying from a heart attack during the Adi Kailash pilgrimage, which commenced on May 1 this year.
“Due to unexpectedly cold weather this year, pilgrims undertaking the Adi Kailash journey are facing health-related difficulties,” Dr. Guniyal said.
Ravindra Singh Rana of the Dharchula Police Station informed that, following the post-mortem examination, Giri’s companions have departed for their home state with his body. PTI DPT NB NB
