Ranchi, May 30 (PTI) Four flights were diverted at Ranchi’s Birsa Munda Airport on Saturday morning due to poor visibility caused by inclement weather, an airport official said.
Several parts of Jharkhand witnessed rain accompanied by thunderstorms, resulting in dense cloud cover over the airport and reduced visibility.
An IndiGo flight (IGO7561) from Kolkata, scheduled to land in Ranchi at 8.05 am, was diverted and later returned at 11.59 am.
Another IndiGo flight (IGO6370) from Delhi, scheduled for 8.25 am, was also diverted to Kolkata and returned at 11.30 am, airport director Vinod Kumar said.
Similarly, Air India flight (AXB 1239) from Bangalore to Ranchi, scheduled at 8.55 am, was diverted to the West Bengal capital and returned at 11.29 am, while
an Air India Express flight (AXB 1046), scheduled for 9 am, was also diverted and landed at 11.40 am.
According to the IMD, inclement weather will continue even on Sunday, with possibilities of thunderstorms and strong winds. PTI SAN SAN MNB
