India Break Pakistan’s Record
India’s successful run chase of 209 runs in 15.2 overs on Friday helped them become the first full-member team in the world to chase down the target of 200-plus in a T20I match with more than 25 balls to spare.
The previous record of completing a 200+ run chase in a T20I match with the most balls to spare by a full-member nation was in the name of Pakistan. On March 21, 2025, Pakistan chased down the target of 205 runs against New Zealand in 16 overs for the loss of only one wicket.
The world record of chasing a 200+ run target in a T20I match with the most balls to spare is in the name of Serbia. On June 7, 2025, in Belgrade, Serbia chased down the target of 200 runs against Slovenia with 35 balls to spare.
