Rohit Sharma etched his name in the record books on Sunday (July 19) by becoming the first Indian batter to score an ODI century at Lord’s. The veteran opener reached the three-figure mark in just 84 balls during the third ODI against England.
Chasing a daunting target of 388 runs, Rohit led India’s charge with a sensational innings, smashing 11 fours and four sixes at the Home of Cricket.
Before Rohit’s historic knock, the highest individual score by an Indian batter in an ODI at Lord’s was Sourav Ganguly’s 90 against England on September 5, 2004.

scored by a batter in a single away country.
In the list of players with the most ODI centuries in an away nation, Rohit moved ahead of Sachin Tendulkar, Saeed Anwar, AB de Villiers and Quinton de Kock, all of whom scored seven centuries in a particular overseas country. Tendulkar and Anwar scored seven ODI hundreds in the UAE, while De Villiers and De Kock registered seven centuries each in India.

At 39 years and 80 days of age, Rohit Sharma became the oldest Indian cricketer to score a century in ODI cricket on Sunday (July 19). In doing so, he surpassed the previous record held by Sachin Tendulkar.
Tendulkar was 38 years and 327 days old when he scored 114 runs off 147 balls against Bangladesh in Mirpur on March 16, 2012.
However, the record for the oldest Indian to score an international century still belongs to former India batter Vijay Merchant. Merchant was 40 years and 21 days old when he registered a score of 154 against England in a Test match in Delhi in November 1951.
