Delhi University (DU) will hold its 103rd convocation on November 20, 2026, with a significant change in its degree-awarding process. For the first time in the university’s history, students will receive their degrees in the same calendar year in which they complete their courses, according to the university.
The change is expected to help students who need degree certificates promptly to pursue higher education or apply for jobs, particularly overseas. According to Vice-Chancellor Professor Yogesh Singh, the decision has been taken with students’ academic and professional requirements in mind.
Students applying for postgraduate programmes abroad or seeking employment after graduation may need formal documentation of their qualifications. Delays
in receiving degree certificates can complicate admission and recruitment procedures.
By aligning degree distribution with the year of course completion, DU aims to make the process more convenient for students moving on to further studies or professional opportunities.
“It is notified for information to all concerned that the 103rd Annual Convocation of the University of Delhi is scheduled to be held on Friday, 20th November, 2026 from 9.30 a.m. onwards at Multipurpose Hall, Delhi University Sports Stadium Complex, University of Delhi, Delhi-110007,” reads the official notice.
According to the university, degrees will be awarded to 85,231 undergraduate (UG) students and 7,235 postgraduate (PG) students. In addition, more than 400 PhD scholars will receive their degrees. The ceremony will also recognise academic achievements, with 163 students set to receive gold medals, one student a silver medal, and 34 students receiving other awards.
The university’s 103rd convocation is scheduled for November 20, 2026. Union Home Minister Amit Shah will attend the ceremony as the chief guest, while DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Yogesh Singh will preside over the event.
