The Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association has announced monthly financial support for former women cricketers from the state. The decision was taken at a managing committee meeting, with president Mahanarayanaman Scindia proposing the scheme, which was approved unanimously.
According to honorary secretary Sudhir Asnani, the assistance will range between Rs 6,000 and Rs 12,500 per month. Only those players who are not receiving financial support from the Board of Control for Cricket in India will be eligible.
“Former women players who have played in international Tests and One Day Internationals will be provided Rs 12,500 per month…those who have played domestic cricket will be given Rs 6,000 to Rs 10,000, depending on the number of matches played,”
said Asnani.
Additionally, players above the age of 75 will receive an extra Rs 7,500 per month. The committee also decided to extend the tenure of Chandrakant Pandit as Director (Cricket) for two more years. Pandit had guided Madhya Pradesh to their maiden Ranji Trophy title. Honorariums for selectors, umpires, coaches, and scorers have also been increased.
Meanwhile, the Karnataka State Cricket Association has introduced a similar pension scheme for former women cricketers who represented the state in the Senior Women’s National Championship.
The pension will be given to players aged 55 and above, provided they are not already receiving similar benefits from the BCCI.
“This initiative is aimed at recognising and honouring valuable contributions made by former women cricketers to the state,” said KSCA secretary Santosh Menon.
Eligible players will need to submit documents confirming their participation and the number of matches they played for the state.
