Further highlighting the attempts being made by the global north (pointing towards US) with tariffs and sanctions, the Russian Ambassador to India said, “The tariffs and sanctions only shows reluctance to accept the multipolar world. Delays overdue reform of global governance structure.”
Alipov further stated that BRICS is gaining popularity, says Russian Ambassador Denis Alipov, pointing out how countries are keen to join it.
India On Trump’s Claim
Meanwhile, just hours after Trump’s claim on India’s purchase of Russian oil, India clarified its stand, stating that “New Delhi’s consistent priority is to safeguard the interests of the Indian consumer”.
“India is a significant importer of oil and gas. It has been our consistent priority to safeguard the interests of the Indian consumer in a volatile energy scenario. Our import policies are guided entirely by this objective,” MEA said.
he government’s statement came after the US President claimed that Prime Minister Modi had assured him that India would stop buying oil from Russia. “He’s assured me there will be no oil purchases from Russia. He can’t do it immediately. It’s a little bit of a process, but the process is going to be over soon,” Trump said during a White House event.
