May 4 (PTI) Tamil Nadu Higher Education Minister Govi Chezhiaan retained his Thiruvidaimarudur assembly segment by winning with a margin of 14,116 votes on Monday.
According to Election Commission data, Chezhiaan secured 79,951 votes against his nearest rival and TVK candidate S Prabakaran, who registered 65,835 votes.
Chezhiaan was sworn in as Higher Education Minister in 2024, as part of a cabinet reshuffle under the DMK government.
He also served as the chief government whip in the Tamil Nadu Assembly.
