The home invasion case involving singer and actress Nana has taken another dramatic turn. Just as the court was preparing to deliver its verdict, new evidence emerged that has put the spotlight back on the accused robber.
Fresh court proceedings revealed that prosecutors have pointed to a series of online posts allegedly made by the accused on the same day he was arrested. According to the prosecution, the questions shared online appeared to closely resemble details of the alleged crime.
The case resumed on June 4 at the Namyangju Branch of the Uijeongbu District Court. Although arguments in the trial had already concluded on May 19, the court decided to reopen proceedings to review additional evidence before announcing its decision.
One of the
main issues discussed during the hearing was a number of posts that prosecutors claim were written by the defendant shortly after the incident.
Among the questions allegedly posted online were, “What happens if a burglar trespassing into a house gets stabbed by the homeowner?” and “Is it possible to be detained following a warrant review for attempted special robbery?”
Prosecutors argued that the timing and content of the posts were important because they appeared to reflect the circumstances of the alleged break-in.
The posts reportedly described an intruder entering a home, finding residents awake and asking them not to call the police. Other messages allegedly mentioned an intruder being “stabbed in the face” and punched several times before receiving medical treatment.
Some of the posts also referred to a victim who did not want the accused to be punished and was seeking leniency.
The accused denied that the posts were made before or during the incident. He told the court that he wrote them after his arrest while in police custody.
According to the defendant, he was trying to understand what legal consequences he could face and turned to online forums for answers. His side argued that the posts reflected concerns about detention and possible punishment, not an admission of guilt.
The case relates to an incident that allegedly took place at Nana’s home in Guri in November last year.
Prosecutors have charged the man, who is in his 30s, with aggravated robbery and causing injury. They allege that he broke into Nana’s home and threatened both the actress and her mother while demanding valuables.
The case later became even more complicated when the accused filed a complaint against Nana, accusing her of attempted murder. He claimed he was injured while being subdued during the confrontation.
Police, however, concluded that Nana acted in self-defence. As a result, the complaint against her was not sent for prosecution.
Following that decision, Nana reportedly filed a counter-lawsuit against the accused on charges of false accusation.
