Sonakshi Sinha has opened up about relating to a “reverse nepotism” dialogue in her upcoming legal drama System. The actress revealed that the line reminded her of advice given by her father, veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha, when she started her Bollywood career. Sonakshi says her father wanted her to prove herself In an interview with Hindustan Times ahead of System’s release, Sonakshi spoke about how deeply she connected with her character, Neha Rajvansh. The film, directed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, stars Sonakshi as a young public prosecutor who joins hands with a court stenographer, played by Jyotika, to fight a murder case against a powerful businessman. In the film, Neha belongs to a family of lawyers. Her father, played by Ashutosh Gowariker,
is one of the country’s top defence lawyers but insists that his daughter prove herself independently before joining the family firm. The situation leads to a line in the film where Neha asks her father, “What kind of reverse nepotism is this?” Sonakshi admitted the moment felt personal to her.“Honestly, that’s been the case with me. My father has always told me, ‘You have to prove yourself’. Because he was like that. It doesn’t matter who you are; you have to prove yourself to get ahead in life, and that’s how you get what you deserve. So that was also something that was very relatable,” Sonakshi recalls. Sonakshi says the film raises important questions The actress also explained why System stood out to her as a project. According to Sonakshi, the legal drama explores issues that people often ignore in everyday life. “The film addressed so many issues that we may not even think of. These are derived from real people, real incidents, and things happening around us. At a lot of points, the film makes you question things. Any film that gets you started thinking about stuff is a good film,” says Sonakshi. Sonakshi Sinha movies Sonakshi made her acting debut opposite Salman Khan in Dabangg in 2010 and later starred in films including Rowdy Rathore, Son of Sardaar and Holiday. In recent years, she has received praise for performances in streaming projects such as Dahaad and Heeramandi. System is scheduled to release on Amazon Prime Video on May 22.
