Kolkata, Sep 29 (PTI) West Bengal Chief Electoral Officer Neelam Meena on Tuesday reviewed preparedness for the October 6 by-elections to the Rejinagar and Nandigram assembly seats.
Meena, along with Additional CEOs, Joint CEOs and Deputy CEOs, held a video conference with district election officials and other poll functionaries, a statement said.
District Election Officers, Additional District Magistrates, Sub-Divisional Officers, Returning Officers, Assistant Returning Officers and sector officials, among others, attended the meeting.
The review focused on arrangements for the by-elections, including coordination among election officials and preparedness at the constituency and sector levels, the statement said.
The Election Commission had on September
7 announced by-elections to the Rejinagar and Nandigram assembly constituencies, with polling scheduled for October 6 and counting on October 9.
The election process is scheduled to be completed by October 11.
The Rejinagar seat fell vacant following the resignation of AJUP founder Humayun Kabir, while the Nandigram seat was vacated by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari. PTI SUS SOM
