The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has granted a U/A certificate to Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi’s upcoming movie, Jolly LLB 3. The certificate was given with a 16+ rating on September 2. As reported by Bollywood Hungama, CBFC also asked the makers to make several modifications to the movie. However, these changes did not affect the narrative of the film.
Changes Suggested By CBFC In Jolly LLB 3
To begin with, the old disclaimer was deleted and a new disclaimer was added. The alcohol brand was blurred wherever it was shown and the usage of the word Fu***r was also removed from the movie. Besides this, CBFC also asked the makers to modify a scene in which cops were seen assaulting an old man. In another scene, the visuals of a logo on a file carried by Janaki (Seema Biswas)
were also blurred. A dialogue in the second half of the film was also changed. It was replaced as ‘Janki amma ka gaon sirf ek…cheque muh pe fek ke mara’.
Once these changes were made, the censor board granted Jolly LLB 3 a U/A certificate. According to the censor certificate, the film’s length is reportedly 157 minutes, which translates to a runtime of 2 hours and 37 minutes.
Plea Against Jolly LLB 3
Recently, a public interest litigation (PIL) was filed against the makers of Jolly LLB 3 in the Madhya Pradesh High Court for allegedly disrespecting the judiciary with the film’s song, Bhai Vakeel Hai. Filed by a lawyer from Jabalpur, the PIL objects to the lyrics of the song: “fikar na kar tera bhai vakeel hai”. It also claims that references to “package deals” and “judge ko mamu banana,” are an insult to the Indian judiciary. It also says that in the song, actors in the song are seen dancing in black coats and lawyers’ gowns, which are meant to be worn in court with dignity.

The first Jolly LLB film was released in 2013. Its sequel hit theatres in 2017. The first film featured Arshad Warsi and Saurabh Shukla in the lead roles. In the sequel, Akshay Kumar replaced Arshad Warsi. He was also joined by Huma Qureshi.
