BTS leader RM has made a startling revelation, sharing that the global K-pop phenomenon came close to disbanding multiple times during their hiatus. As the seven-member group gears up for a long-awaited full-group comeback next spring, RM opened up about the internal struggles the band faced while navigating their time apart.
BTS is set to reunite next year after all members completed their mandatory military service earlier this year. The group has already begun preparations for a brand-new album and a massive world tour, but the road to this moment was not easy.
Speaking during a live broadcast on K-pop fan community platform Weverse, RM candidly admitted, “[We’ve] thought for tens of thousands of times whether it would be good for us to disband
or to suspend activities.”
He further added, “What has kept this team going is how much we love each other, and the love and respect we have for those watching this livestream.”
Despite the emotional uncertainty, RM confirmed that the group’s comeback plans are now firmly in motion and steadily taking shape.
New Album and Biggest-Ever World Tour in the Works
RM revealed that work on BTS’s upcoming album is well underway. In July, the group officially announced their plans to return with a new full-group release, followed by a global tour in the spring.
Giving fans an update, RM shared, “Preparations for the album are almost being made. We practiced together yesterday. We are filming [content] and practicing every day,” before adding, “We will show you after we prepare well.”
If the comeback goes ahead as scheduled, it will mark BTS’s first full-group album and concert in nearly four years. Their last major group release was the anthology album Proof, followed by the Yet to Come in Busan concert in 2022.
According to reports by Bloomberg, BTS is preparing what could become the biggest tour of their career, with plans for around 65 performances across the globe. More than 30 shows are reportedly slated for North America alone, underlining the massive scale of their return to the stage.
The upcoming album and tour are expected to mark a historic new chapter for BTS, as the septet aims to reconnect with fans worldwide and reclaim their place at the top of the global music scene.
