Mary Kom has admitted that she has not supported her children’s interest in gaming, despite their habit of playing through the night. On the latest episode of Bigg Boss 20, the Olympic medallist discussed the issue with gamer Tanmay Singh, also known as ScoutOp, who encouraged her to give them time to explore whether gaming could become a career.
Mary Kom On Her Children’s Gaming
During the conversation, Mary Kom told ScoutOp that she has never encouraged her children to pursue gaming as a career. “Isme zindagi kya karega. Kabhi maine support nahi kiya.”
ScoutOp, who earns his living through esports, then suggested that Mary give her children six months to a year to see whether they have the potential to make a career in gaming. Mary had earlier
mentioned that her children often stay up late playing games, something she does not want them to continue doing for long hours.
The conversation then moved to Mary’s own journey and achievements in boxing. When asked about her abilities, the Olympic medallist confidently said, “Mera jaisa koi nahi hai.” ScoutOp then asked whether someone could reach the same level if they had the same mindset as Mary. She replied, “Sirf mindset nahi, will chahiye.”
Mary went on to say that even her own children could not become like her. “Mera bachcha log bhi nahi ban sakte” like her.
Mary Kom’s Marriage And Family
Mary Kom has four children with her former husband, K Onler Kom, also known as Karung Onkholer. The couple married in 2005 and welcomed twin sons Rechungvar Kom and Khupneivar Kom in 2007. Their third son, Prince Chungthanglen Kom, was born in 2013. In 2018, Mary and Onler adopted a daughter, Merilyn. Reports state that the couple separated in December 2023.
