Star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is making his IPL captaincy debut for Mumbai Indians on Thursday (May 14). He is leading the Mumbai-based franchise in their IPL 2026 match against Punjab Kings, which is taking place at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala.
The Mumbai-based franchise took to X to confirm the news of Bumrah’s appointment as captain for Thursday’s match in Dharamsala.

Bumrah has been associated with MI in the IPL since 2013 but is leading the side for the first time in the IPL on
Thursday.
He is the 10th player to captain Mumbai Indians in the IPL.
Harbhajan Singh was the first player to captain the Mumbai Indians in the IPL, and he was followed by Shaun Pollock, Sachin Tendulkar, Dwayne Bravo, Ricky Ponting, Rohit Sharma, Kieron Pollard, Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya.
