From Homebound, which has already been celebrated for its powerful storytelling and stellar performances at the Cannes Film Festival and was selected as India’s official entry for the 2026 Academy Awards, to the animated movie like Shin-chan: The Spicy Kasukabe Dancers in India, this week is perfect for all age groups. So, without much ado, check out the movies currently playing and those that will soon open in the theatres.
Ek Chatur Naar (released on September 12) – Starring Divya Khosla in the lead, this black comedy thriller film tells the story of a cunning woman who uses her sharp wit to get ahead, facing unexpected twists and turns in a small town. The movie, directed by Umesh Shukla, also stars actor Neil Nitin Mukesh.
Jolly LLB 3 (released on September 19) – The legal comedy drama film starring Akshay Kumar, Arshad Warsi, and Saurabh Shukla, in the lead, has been receiving positive reviews from critics and fans alike. Written and directed by Subhash Kapoor, it is the third instalment in the Jolly LLB series.
Nishaanchi (released on September 19) – Anurag Kashyap’s directorial stars newcomer Aaishvary Thackeray along with Vedika Pinto, Monika Panwar, Kumud Mishra and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub in pivotal roles. The crime drama produced by JAR Pictures and Flip Films tells the story of twin brothers caught between crime and conscience, where love, loss, and fate test the strength of their bond.
Homebound (releasing on September 26) – Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa, and Janhvi Kapoor’s movie, based on a 2020 New York Times article by Basharat Peer, will finally hit the theatres after earning critical acclaim at various international platforms. The Neeraj Ghaywan directorial follows the story of two childhood friends, who attempt to pass the national police exam.
One Battle After Another (releasing on September 26) – Leonardo DiCaprio’s film, written, produced, and directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, is inspired by the 1990 novel Vineland by Thomas Pynchon. The epic action thriller also had its world premiere in Los Angeles on September 8, garnering immense praise. Now, it is gearing up for its theatrical release.
They Call Him OG (releasing on September 25) – The Telugu movie stars Pawan Kalyan as Ojas Gambheera (OG), the underworld don who returns to Mumbai to reclaim his empire. The other cast members included Emraan Hashmi, Priyanka Arul Mohan, Arjun Das, Sriya Reddy, and Prakash Raj, among others.
Shin-chan: The Spicy Kasukabe Dancers in India (releasing on September 26) – The animated film centres around Shin-chan and his friends’ travel to India, only for Bo-chan to become a powerful tyrant after finding a mysterious nose-shaped backpack.
Karam (releasing on September 25) – The Malayalam-language action thriller film, directed by Vineeth Sreenivasan, features Noble Thomas as former Indian military officer Dev Mahendran. It tells the story of how Dev and his family emerge from a crisis during a family trip to Lenarco for an international conference.
The Strangers – Chapter 2 (releasing on September 26) – The American horror film, directed by Renny Harlin, is serving as the fourth instalment in The Strangers film series. It stars Madelaine Petsch, Gabriel Basso and Ema Horvath in key roles.
