In January 2023, Randeep Hooda, along with director Syed Ahmad Afzal, formally announced the second part of his 2016 film Laal Rang, titled Laal Rang 2. However, since then, there has been no major update about the project. Now, the actor has revealed the reason behind the delay.
When questioned about the delay, Randeep told HT City, “It is one of my favourite movies as well. I would love to do that film, but not in a half-hearted way, neither like the shambles in which we shot the first part. We are looking for proper partners to come on board with us and do justice to the first part, which is nothing less than a cult.”

For the unversed, Laal Rang was set in Haryana. It was a dark-humoured drama that
revolved around the blood trade business and explored themes of friendship, brotherhood, love, and greed.
When Randeep earlier announced the film, it was supposed to mark his debut as a producer. Talking about it, he had said, “Shankar Malik is one character that will always stay close to my heart. The film, even after seven years, stays relevant and has a dedicated fan base. This is what has compelled me to embark on this new journey as a producer with a lot of joy and a sense of responsibility towards it.”
Actors Akshay Oberoi and Pia Bajpiee will reprise their roles from the first part, and the search is on for new additions to the cast. Laal Rang 2: Khoon Chusva is produced by Randeep Hooda Films, Avak Films, and Jelly Bean Entertainment Co, and co-produced by Anwar Ali and Sonu Kuntal.
Professional Front
Randeep, who recently appeared in the action drama Jaat opposite Sunny Deol, has an ambitious role planned next. He is gearing up for Operation Khukri, a war drama based on one of the Indian Army’s most daring peacekeeping operations.
The actor has acquired the official rights to adapt Operation Khukri: The Untold Story of the Indian Army’s Bravest Peacekeeping Mission Abroad by Major General Rajpal Punia and Damini Punia. Variety reports that the movie will document the events of 2000, when 233 Indian troops were taken hostage in Sierra Leone and later rescued in a high-risk operation.
Hooda will portray a young Rajpal Punia, who was then the Company Commander of the 14th Mechanised Infantry, as he faces challenging jungle terrain and guides his troops through the tense mission. The film aims to highlight grit, strategy, and bravery in the face of dire adversity.
