The Mizoram Directorate of Higher and Technical Education (Technical Wing) has released the second provisional merit list for admission to medical courses, including MBBS, under the state quota. A total of 458 candidates have been included in the list. Notably, as in the first provisional merit list, Mizoram state topper S. Lalsawmdawnguzuala Lalsanjel Hazel has retained the top position.
Student with AIR 11875 secures first rank
S. Lalsawmdawnguzuala Lalsanjel Hazel has once again secured the first position in the second provisional merit list. He scored 595 out of 720 marks in NEET UG 2026. Belonging to the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category, he is also Mizoram’s state topper. He holds an All India Rank (AIR) of 11875 with a percentile of 99.40602.
In the ST category, his All India Rank is 83.
Who secured the second and third positions?
Lalmuami Cello Robert Lalthlamuana secured the second rank in the merit list with 541 marks, while Deborah Lalthlamuani DL Hmanguana claimed the third position with 537 marks. These three candidates have emerged as the top performers in the state merit list and are now among the strongest contenders for medical seats under the state quota.
A total of 458 candidates have been included in the second provisional merit list. The first provisional list had featured 385 candidates, meaning 73 additional candidates have now been added. The lowest score included in the current list is 181.
Which courses does the merit list cover?
The Mizoram Directorate of Higher and Technical Education stated that the second provisional merit list has been prepared for admission to various medical and paramedical courses under the state quota. Besides MBBS, the list also covers BDS, BHMS, BAMS, BVSc & AH, and BPT courses. It has been released to help candidates understand their probable position ahead of the counselling process.

Candidates who have applied for medical seats under the Mizoram State Quota can download the second provisional merit list by visiting the official website of the Mizoram Directorate of Higher and Technical Education at dhte.mizoram.gov.in. The merit list includes candidates’ ranks based on their NEET UG 2026 scores.
Major changes in All India Quota counselling
Meanwhile, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) is preparing to begin the All India Quota (AIQ) counselling process. This year, several important changes have been introduced to make the counselling process more convenient. The biggest change is that candidates who have already secured a seat and choose to opt for an upgrade in the next round will no longer be required to report to the allotted medical college only to complete formalities. Their allotted seat will remain secured within the counselling system, allowing them to participate in the next round without unnecessary reporting.
