Sep 9 (PTI) Police have seized cannabis plants valued at Rs 14.88 lakh allegedly being illegally cultivated in Maharashtra’s Beed district and arrested a 22-year-old local resident, officials said.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team raided a public grazing land at Kewad village in Kaij tehsil on Monday evening.
During the search, they found cannabis plants being illegally cultivated and concealed amid tall wild grass right in front of a residence, a police official said on Tuesday.
The police later uprooted 74.432 kg of cannabis crop valued at Rs 14.88 lakh, he said.
The house occupant was arrested and booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, the police added. PTI COR GK
