Oman’s opening batter Aamir Kaleem entered his name in the history books on Friday, September 19, by becoming the oldest batter in T20Is history to score a half-century against a full-member nation. Kaleem, who is 43 years and 303 days old, broke Chris Gayle’s record. Gayle was 41 years and 294 days old when he scored a half-century for the West Indies against Australia in 2021.

During his stay at the crease on Friday, Kaleem added 93 runs for the second wicket with Hammad Mirza. Mirza also scored a half-century for Team India on Friday. He crossed the 50-run mark in 30 balls, and during his stay at the crease, he hammered 5 fours and 2 sixes.
On the other hand, Kaleem smacked 7 fours and 2 sixes for the Jatinder Singh-led side against Suryakumar Yadav & Co.
Apart from his batting, Kaleem impressed with his bowling as well in the Asia Cup 2025 Group A match between India and Oman. He bowled three overs and picked up two wickets for 31 runs.
He opened his wicket account by dismissing Axar Patel (26 runs from 13 balls) on the second ball of the 12th over and then removed Shivam Dube (5 runs from 8 balls) on the second ball of the 14th over. While Axar was caught by Vinayak Shukla, Oman skipper Jatinder completed Dube’s catch.
