An Indonesian couple’s decision to name their newborn child after former Iran Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has drawn widespread attention, prompting recognition from the Iranian Cultural Office in Indonesia.
The Cultural Office described the couple’s gesture as a symbol of cultural and spiritual ties between Iran and Indonesia, highlighting the cross-border influence of prominent figures, according to a report by WANA news agency.
In recognition of the couple’s decision, representatives of the Iranian Cultural Office visited the family and expressed their appreciation by presenting flowers and gifts.
The child’s parents, Arsa Putra and Vardatul Jannah, live in the village of Tibun in Kampar. According to reports, the couple chose the name
to express admiration for Iran’s leader and to convey solidarity with the Iranian people.
The story has since gained traction across international media and social platforms, particularly in Southeast Asia, where it has become a widely discussed topic.
