The viral video clip was recorded when Shivakumar was visiting Horahalli in Kanakapura. During his visit, he received a grand welcome from supporters.

During his reception, the chief minister was presented with a massive “Gajamala” by the locals, which was a huge garland of fresh apples and flowers.
In the viral video clip, Shivakumar was seen plucking an apple from the garland, taking a bite from the fruit, and then tossing it towards the cheering supporters who had gathered at the venue.

As he threw the eaten apple, the supporters responded enthusiastically, and many tried to even catch the fruit, which was tossed into the air.
According to the chief minister’s office, the local residents had arranged the massive apple garland as a gesture of appreciation and support during his visit to the region.

The video from Kanakapura has since gained traction on social media, with supporters describing it as an informal and affectionate interaction with the crowd, while critics questioned the optics of throwing food items during a public event.
Commenting on the video, one user said, “Does DK Shivakumar think he’s a deity? Taking a bite out of an apple garland like it’s bhog and handing it out to the public… what kind of logic is this?”

“Honestly, this isn’t leadership; it’s a feudal leftover treating people like pets. Tossing a half eaten, saliva soaked apple into a crowd and watching them scramble; pure cringe, straight out of a monarchy playbook. Utterly degrading,” another user stated.
