Actor Mehreen Pirzada has strongly denied rumours claiming that she has been secretly married, calling the reports false and irresponsible. The actor addressed the issue after online claims suggested she had
married an individual named Chiranjiv Makwana in 2024, a detail that also appeared on her Wikipedia page.
Mehreen took to Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday to share a detailed note, stating that she has been dealing with such misinformation for nearly two years. She explained that while she initially chose to remain silent, the continued spread of false information and what she described as constant harassment pushed her to finally respond.
IMPORTANT!!!
Nowadays it’s bizzare how misinformation can spread without any repercussions for it. And journalism has definitely taken a hit when it comes to stupid paid articles. I’ve stayed shut about this for 2 years but because of constant harassment I choose to speak up…

In her post, Mehreen criticised the ease with which unverified claims circulate online and questioned the credibility of reports published without proper checks. “Nowadays, it’s bizarre how misinformation can spread without any repercussions for it. And journalism has definitely taken a hit when it comes to stupid paid articles,” she wrote. She added that her silence until now should not be mistaken for acceptance of these claims, saying, “I’ve stayed shut about this for 2 years, but because of constant harassment, I choose to speak up today.”
Addressing the marriage rumours directly, the actor dismissed reports that linked her to a person she says she has never even interacted with. She wrote, “…clearly a low life who’s hacked into my Wikipedia and tried to get his 2 mins of fame. So here I am setting the record straight. I’m not married to anyone. But trust me when I do decide to, I promise you the whole world will know!” Mehreen also tagged multiple handles and called out a journalist for reporting the claim, asking them to “get your s**t together.”
She further expressed her frustration with inaccurate information being added to her online profiles, stating, “@Wikipedia needs to STOP letting random people edit my page. I am the most accurate source of information about my own life.”
Mehreen was earlier engaged to Haryana politician Bhavya Bishnoi in 2021 after dating him for a year. The engagement, however, was called off within four months for reasons that were not made public. Despite this, her Wikipedia page had claimed that she got engaged to Chiranjiv Makwana in 2023 and married him in Hyderabad in 2024, a claim she has now firmly denied.
On the work front, Mehreen was most recently seen in the Tamil film Indra alongside Vasanth Ravi earlier this year. She was previously part of the JioHotstar web series Sultan of Delhi in 2023 and appeared in Telugu films F3: Fun and Frustration (2022) and Spark Life (2023).
