Bengaluru’s traffic problems are often discussed online, but one post surprised people for a different reason. It showed vehicles stuck in a traffic jam at 2 am, a time when roads are usually expected to be clear. The image, shared on X by a user named Siddhant, sparked a wider conversation about why the city continues to face congestion even late at night.
Many users offered their own explanations, turning the post into a debate about Bengaluru’s growing infrastructure challenges.
Social Media Users Question Late-Night Traffic
Sharing the photo, Siddhant wrote, “Why? Bengaluru, why? At 2 in the night seriously?” The image showed a long line of vehicles moving slowly on a crowded stretch of road in the early hours of the morning.
The unusual timing
left many people puzzled, with several users saying they had experienced similar situations themselves.
Metro Work Comes Under Scrutiny
A number of users linked the congestion to the ongoing metro construction taking place across the city. According to them, roads are often narrowed or diverted to make space for construction activities.
Some argued that much of this work is carried out at night to avoid disrupting daytime traffic, but the diversions end up creating fresh bottlenecks for motorists travelling during those hours.
Airport Traffic Gets Blamed
Others pointed to Bengaluru’s busy airport and active nightlife as reasons for the steady flow of vehicles after midnight. Several users noted that thousands of travellers rely on taxis and private vehicles because of limited direct public transport options to the airport.
As a result, airport-bound traffic remains heavy even during late-night hours. One resident also recalled getting stuck near Marathahalli around 10 pm, claiming that interstate buses parked along the Outer Ring Road had added nearly 30 minutes to the journey.

Residents Share Concerns
Some commenters warned that the situation could become more difficult before it improves, especially with multiple infrastructure projects underway.
Others criticised traffic diversions and road closures linked to metro construction.
A few users also suggested that late-night traffic checks may contribute to congestion on key roads.
As the discussion continued, many people agreed on one point: Bengaluru’s traffic problems are no longer limited to rush hour.
