Drishyam 3 Box Office Day 1: Mohanlal's Film Impresses Audience, Earns Rs 15 Crore

Drishyam 3 Box Office Collection Day 1: Mohanlal’s Drishyam 3 finally hit theatres on May 21 and just like the previous films in the franchise, even this movie has left audiences completely impressed. On its opening day, Drishyam 3 has earned more than Rs 15 crore.

As reported by the industry tracker Sacnilk, Drishyam 3 collected a net of Rs 15.85 Cr across 5,506 shows in India. Overseas, the film grossed a total of Rs 25 crore. This means that in just one day, the Mohanlal starrer has earned Rs 43.37 crore worldwide.

What Was Drishyam 3’s Budget?

According to several reports, Drishyam 3 is mounted on a massive budget of around Rs 100 crore, making it one of the costliest Malayalam films ever made. Earlier, Drishyam movies were made on a modest budget of under Rs 5-6 crore.

Reportedly, Mohanlal has charged a whopping Rs 20 crore to reprise his role as Georgekutty. This is a huge hike compared to the salary he was paid for the previous instalments. He earned around Rs 5-6 crore for the first part and Rs 10-12 crore for the second. Actress Meena reportedly received around Rs 75 lakh for her role as Getgekutty’s wife Rani. Aniba Hassan and Esther Anil as sister Anju and Anu have been paid Rs 1 crore and Rs 25 lakh respectively.

The original Malayalam film was released in 2013, while the sequel arrived in 2021. Over the years, the franchise has been adapted into several languages, including Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. The Hindi adaptation stars Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Shriya Saran, Ishita Dutta and Mrunal Jadhav. While the first Hindi film was directed by Nishikant Kamat, Abhishek Pathak later took over the franchise following the filmmaker’s death. The Hindi version of Drishyam 3 is scheduled to release on October 2 this year.
