Ace India batter Virat Kohli is reportedly set to represent Delhi in a few initial games of the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy, which will mark his return to the Indian domestic one-day competition after
over a decade. Having left the country after the three-match ODI series, Kohli returned on Saturday, December 13.
Kohli’s participation in the 50-over tournament was confirmed a few days ago by the Delhi and District Cricket Association in an official press release.
Delhi will start their campaign with an opening game against Andhra Pradesh on December 24 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. In a recent development, the Karnataka State Cricket Association has shifted Delhi’s games from Alur to the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Kohli last played a List-A game in the Indian domestic circuit 12 years ago, turning out for Delhi against India Blue in the NKP Salve Challenger Trophy at the Holkar Stadium in Indore.
Kohli is now all set to represent his home team, Delhi, in a domestic List-A tournament after a long gap. After the Andhra game, Delhi will face Gujarat on December 26.
Delhi will then take on Saurashtra on December 29, face Odisha on December 31 and Services on Saturday, January 3. All matches will be played in Bengaluru.
Kohli’s five-game stint for Delhi in the Vijay Hazare Trophy could conclude with the match against Services on January 3, as he is all set to join India for the three-match home ODI series against New Zealand.
The ODIs start on Sunday, January 11, with the series opener scheduled at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara. The Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 is expected to be streamed live on JioHotstar for OTT viewers in India.
All of Delhi’s games featuring Kohli will start at 9:00 AM IST. In his List-A career, he has scored 15,999 runs in 329 innings across 342 games, including 57 centuries and 84 half-centuries.
Kohli is just one run shy of the 16,000-run milestone and will be aiming to reach it in Delhi’s opening game against Andhra.
